Truxx Factor at Rockingham
On track Truxx Factor makes history with the UK,s first ever Truck Sprint for Race Trucks & Road Trucks.
Meanwhile Motward steals the show but Fred Sherwood’s driver shows them how to drive!
Last weekend saw Rockingham Speedway host the Truxx Factor fast moving experience on its first visit to this fantastic venue. Partnered by Wabco & Pertemps the event just keeps growing and growing.
All on hardstanding the showfield stood up to the riggers of hundreds of trucks, trailers, diggers, pickups, hot rods, stock cars, monster trucks, fun fair etc which make up the Truxx Factor show.
On track Dave Jenkins was fastest in the Race Truck Sprint with a time of 57.501 sec. Ray Coleman was second ahead of Luke Taylor third by a margin of only 0.25 secs .
Geoff Jones showed his DAF 95 with manual gearbox was the fastest over the course at 82.72 in the Road Truck Sprint but the driver of the day has to be Matt Ashurst of Fred Sherwood & Sons Transport Ltd in his Volvo. He finished 2nd in the sprint but blew them away in the Go & Stop stopping his truck straight & level in a measured box sweet as a nut every time. Every transport company needs accurate and consistent quick drivers like Matt to keep ahead of the competition!
Motward’s gleaming fleet of working trucks took the honours in the name of the late owner who sadly passed away a week before the event. The Scania N11 MPL driven by Mark Shorten also taking Best Artic Working Truck across the board. There was no shortage of Golden Oldies to give awards to as Wrefords 1954 Bedford and EM Rogers 1936 Albion and Volvo F12 all featured in the results.
Saturday eve truck parade took place as the sun went down to a barrage of fireworks lighting up the night sky creating a fantastic sight. Sundays track parade saw a patient line of trucks 2 miles long waiting to get on the track for their lap and when they all did get out it filled the International track completely up with trucks creating the biggest truck convoy seen at Rockingham ever before.
Truck Drifting & F1 Stock Car V8 power slides certainly kept the crowd entertained in the second Live Action Arena. Surrounded by Industry displays this area was kept busy all weekend with Truck rides by Route Logistics Ltd, Recovery Demo’s by Lantern Recovery, A Truck Pull, Pertemps LGV Driver Training displays & Forklift Training by CB Training.
Red Dragon Monster Truck & Ken Fox’s famous Wall of Death were the main outdoor attractions drawing people in. But there was also a great deal going on in the indoor hall with the Truxx Factor simulator challenge, R/C Truck display, Slot Car Racing and for the kids Dalek’s, Punch & Judy show, Face Painting etc etc.
Truxx Factor is a family friendly festival featuring Non Stop Awesome Trucking Action that’s for sure.
